Editing & Proofreading Services

I specialize in line editing & proofreading for novels, novellas, and short stories. Preferred genres: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal & Contemporary Romance (sweet to steamy, LGBTQ welcome), Paranormal Women’s Fiction, and Post-Apocalyptic. I’m open to other genres too, so it never hurts to ask. I welcome all inquiries.

Line Editing

During a line edit, I’ll take a close look at paragraph & sentence structure to make sure everything flows well and your voice is consistent. I’ll recommend word/structure changes to improve readability, better convey meaning, and highlight overused words/phrases. Additionally, I’ll keep an eye out for grammatical errors, misspellings, and typos. (It’s still important that your manuscript undergo a final proofread once you’re finished making edits!)

This is not a developmental edit, and I won’t comment on story structure, plot, or characterization unless I notice something particularly glaring.

Proofreading

During a proofread, I’ll go over your manuscript with a fine-toothed comb, root out any lingering typos or grammatical errors, fix any formatting issues, and make sure it is consistent with the style guidelines published in the Chicago Manual of Style.

I will not take on a proofreading project for a manuscript I have recently edited. You really need fresh eyes for this! If a few months have passed since I edited it, I’ll consider it.

Writers have very personal relationships with their works, and I understand that as only another writer can. There’s nothing quite as nerve-wracking as putting your creative work out there for public consumption, but if my eyes have been on it, you can rest easier knowing it’s a quality product.
