Do you take nonfiction projects?
I usually do not take nonfiction, but I am happy to tackle memoirs.
Which style guide do you follow?
I follow the Chicago Manual of Style unless otherwise requested.
Why don’t you offer developmental editing services?
Language is my passion, so I prefer to focus on the language used to tell a story. However, I do point out plot holes and continuity issues at no extra charge.
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit cards or ACH bank transfers, invoiced via Paypal by default. Stripe is available upon request. I do not accept cash, checks, money orders, or cryptocurrency.
Do you require a deposit?
There is no deposit required to get on my calendar. For new clients, I request half payment when the manuscript is submitted and the other half upon delivery. Once we’ve established a working relationship, I generally prefer to invoice one lump sum upon delivery.
What if my manuscript isn’t ready in time?
Life happens. I get it. If you need to reschedule, just drop me an email—preferably sometime before the day it’s due—and we’ll figure it out. I’m fairly flexible, but the more notice you can give me, the better.
What format do you want my manuscript in?
Please submit your manuscript in MS Word (.DOCX) format.
What is the editing/proofreading process like?
The process usually goes like this:
- Visit the Pricing page and choose your product.
- Fill out the signup form and submit.
- I’ll contact you via email about the project to discuss timeline & terms. Once you’re ready…
- Email me your manuscript in MS Word (.DOCX) format.
- I will generate an invoice for your first payment and send it to you within 1-2 business days of your scheduled start date.
- Pay your invoice, and I’ll get to work.
- When I’m finished, I’ll send you an annotated manuscript and an invoice for the other half of the payment.
- Review your edits and pay your final invoice. If you have any questions about the changes, ask away!
- Tell your writer friends how awesome I am.*
*Step #9 is optional but much appreciated.
How long does an edit/proofread take?
That’s a tricky question because it varies depending on the length of the manuscript and how much attention it needs. For a 50-80k novel, I’d estimate around 3-5 business days.
For a custom estimate, email me a 3k sample of your manuscript and the total word count.
What is your availability?
See calendar below! You’re welcome to drop me an email if I am booked in your time frame. Depending on the scope of the project, I might be able to fit you in.
